Celtic team news: Predicted 4-2-3-1 line up vs Rennes – Neil Lennon gives injury boost | Football | Sport

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has revealed that both Kristoffer Ajer and Christopher Jullien should be fit to face Rennes at Roazhon Park this evening.

Both defenders took blows to the head in the 1-0 win over Hamilton at the weekend, casting doubt over their inclusion in the trip to France.

However, Lennon was confident they would recover in time for the opening Europa League game – despite Jullien having reportedly “blacked out” momentarily after his injury.

Speaking after the Scottish Premiership victory on Saturday, Lennon said: “Kris took a whack but we’re okay thankfully.

“[Jullien] will be checked out but I think he’s absolutely fine.”

The Hoops will be desperate for the duo to be passed fit with Jozo Simunovic and Nir Bitton both unavailable against Rennes due to injury.

Marian Shved and Mikey Johnston are also ruled out but the majority of Lennon’s side should remain unchanged from the weekend.

Therefore, Mohamed Elyounoussi could continue to deputised for Johnston on the left wing while James Forrest should line up on the opposite flank.

Odsonne Edouard will spearhead the attack with Ryan Christie providing support in the No 10 role, although Tom Rogic returned from injury against Hamilton and may feature off the bench.

Scott Brown and Callum McGregor will anchor the midfield with Olivier Ntcham kept in reserve, despite the latter’s recent impressive form.

Hatem Abd Elhamed is expected to retain his spot at right-back ahead of Moritz Bauer while Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo will be preferred to new signing Greg Taylor on the left.

Finally, Lennon has a choice to make between Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon in goal with the former having emerged as the Hoops’ No 1 stopper since his arrival from Southampton.
