Anthony Martial makes Man Utd transfer decision as club prepare bumper new contract | Football | Sport
Martial has been key to Manchester United’s resurgence of late, scoring five goals from his last six appearances.
The France international failed to net against Juventus last night but was still key as the Red Devils rocked Juventus 2-1 in the Champions League.
Manchester United’s European dream is now very much alive and, with Martial back to his blockbuster best, he will be key to their chances of glory.
His long-term future at the club, however, is shrouded in uncertainty.
Martial wanted to leave in the summer but, despite Jose Mourinho being happy to let him go, he ended up staying.
His contract expires at the end of the season, though United are able to trigger a one-year extension.
And the Sun say that Martial is now fully intent on staying put.
It is claimed he has become settled in Manchester and, as a result, is willing to remain at the club.
The Sun add United are preparing to give the 22-year-old a huge contract worth £190,000-a-week.
He recently snubbed an offer of a weekly salary worth £160,000.
And whether Martial agrees to United’s latest contract offer remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, BBC Sport commentator Dion Dublin has praised Martial for his performance against Juventus.
“Jose Mourinho’s boys have done the job in a stadium that has been electric,” he said.
“If they had got even one point I would have thought it was outstanding but they’ve nicked all three.
“If you come here and get something from Juventus, you’ve done something right.
“None of the Manchester United players stood out.
“Anthony [Martial] maybe, but there was no end product.
“Man Utd kept knocking at the door and they wouldn’t go away.
“Man Utd stayed together and got lucky at the end.”
