Steven Gerrard SENDS MESSAGE to Rangers fans with Celtic warning | Football | Sport
But the manager insists he is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.
Rangers moved above Celtic at the top for he Premiership table on Sunday following a 2-1 win at Hearts.
Celtic’s Scottish League Cup commitments meant they did not play in the league.
Gers are back in action tonight against Aberdeen in a crunch tie north of the border.
Celtic are at Motherwell and Gerrard has refused to get carried away with the league standings.
“It’s not the idea to play it down.
“I know among the fans how important it is to be where we are, and the happiness and the joy that it brings to the supporters.
“I understand it’s been a long time.
“But I’ve got enough experience to know that the games come thick and fast and that position can alter just as quick as we got there.
“So there’s going to be a lot of twists and turns, ups and downs.
“Bumps in the road.
“And there will be good times as well.
“But for me you move on quickly, stay humble, keep working hard – if not harder to stay where you’re at – and really focus on the next challenge, which is right upon us.”
Rangers have a busy fixture period coming up, with a Europa League trip to Rapid Vienna next week sandwiched between games against Dundee and Hamilton.
They then play St Johnstone and Hibs either side of Christmas Day, before an Old Firm tie with Celtic on December 29.
