Arsenal transfer gossip: Hector Herrera linked as Denis Suarez makes final decision
Arsenal are being constantly linked with reinforcements in the January transfer window.
In many way Unai Emery’s new-look side have exceeded expectations in the Premier League, where they sit only three points off the Champions League places.
But the Spaniard knows he needs a long-term replacement for the departing Aaron Ramsey.
He also has defensive problems with Rob Holding out long-term and Laurent Koscielny struggling for fitness.
With this in mind – and to aid that Champions League push – Arsenal will dip into the market this window.
But who will be coming in to the Emirates over the next three weeks?
Here’s what’s caught our eye…
Herera still an option for Arsenal
Hector Herrera is still on Arsenal’s radar – despite reports he is on the way to Milan.
The Mexican international, 28, has been with Porto since 2013 and has played 149 times for the Portuguese champion.
A box-to-box player is blessed with energy and is available on a free transfer this summer.
While Portuguese outlet Record believe Inter Milan is his most likely destination, O Jogo think the other teams – including Arsenal – still have a chance.
Like Ramsey, he is available on a free this summer and European team can negotiate with him now.
Suarez makes it clear he wants to join Arsenal – and he’s told Barcelona
Barcelona star Denis Suarez is keen to join Arsenal in January.
Mirror Sport understands the 25-year-old midfielder is making it clear he fancies the switch this month and is hoping the clubs can make it happen.
Arsenal are keen on Suarez and he is their No1 target as they look to do a loan move with a view to a permanent £15m transfer this summer.
Barcelona are reluctant to let Suarez leave this month even though he has a buy-out clause in his contract and there is still some way to go before a deal looks remotely likely.
But it is believed that is currently the only serious deal that Arsenal are working on at the moment as Unai Emery knows there are very limited funds in this window.
Mirror Sport reported on December 22 that Arsenal were not expecting a busy window because of the financial restrictions and it could just come down to one small deal and a potential loan.
