Liverpool transfer gossip: Striker to move but another stays, James Tarkowski a no go
Liverpool’s defensive worries are not about to be eased – and Jurgen Klopp has got to solve the puzzle.
After losing Dejan Lovren on Monday, they are still of course without Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.
News broke on Wednesday that the club were trying to get their hands on Burnley’s James Tarkowski.
But it’s fair to say Liverpool can forget about that.
Klopp now has some decisions to make – and needs to make up his mind quickly.
The Premier League rumour mill is always turning as everyone knows.
Here’s the Liverpool stories to catch our eye…..
Tark talk is just that
Sean Dyche says Liverpool will not be buying – or loaning – James Tarkowski.
“We have four centre-halves. Three, maybe, two-and-a-half are injured so we’ll have to try and come through in the moment.
“We need them back but you cannot buy a fifth centre-half and say so you play two weeks and after that the others come in. There are a lot of rumours out there, and not much fact.”
Woodburn set for switch
Liverpool are considering a number of Championship loan offers for for Ben Woodburn.
The 19-year-old attacker had his season-long stay at Sheffield United was cut short.
But he could be heading back to that division now his injury issues have cleared up.
Klopp holds firm over Origi
But one player not going anywhere is Divock Origi.
The striker has only played a bit part at Anfield this season and has 18 months to run on his contract.
But the Liverpool Echo say Jurgen Klopp won’t let the forward leave.
