Premier League transfer news: Five deals that could go through next week | Football | Sport
Premier League transfer news is coming in thick and fast as the January window approaches the halfway stage.
Chelsea have been making plenty of headlines so far and the Blues are expected to remain active in the market over the next few weeks.
The winter transfer window will shut on January 31, with over £76million spent by Premier League clubs so far.
Express Sport takes a look at five potential deals that could be completed in the next seven days.
Denis Suarez (Barcelona to Arsenal)
Reports in Spain indicate that Suarez is close to joining Arsenal from Barcelona.
The 25-year-old is believed to be Unai Emery’s top target this month as he looks to bolster his midfield for the second half of the campaign.
The Gunners are unable to sign any players in January due to FFP restrictions but hope to complete a loan deal for Suarez.
Barcelona would prefer to sell the player permanently but talks over a loan move with an obligatory purchase in the summer appear to have progressed.
Mundo Deportivo claim that Suarez has a ‘foot and a half’ out of the club already and that sources close to the negotiations hope an agreement can be struck next week.
Gary Cahill (Chelsea to Fulham)
Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri admitted the club needs to sign an ‘experienced leader’ in order to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
According to Love Sport Radio, Cahill is set to join the Cottagers on loan this month.
The centre-back has struggled to establish himself under Maurizio Sarri this season and has been limited to just 21 minutes of league football.
The report adds that Fulham are attempting to terminate the loan of Manchester United’s Timothy Fosu-Mensah in an effort to meet Premier League loan regulations, paving the way for Cahill to move across west London.
Leandro Paredes (Zenit St. Petersburg to Chelsea)
The Mirror claim that Chelsea have deals in place for Zenit’s Paredes and Nicolo Barella of Cagliari.
However, Barella is said to be reluctant to leave the Serie A side, putting Paredes in pole position to join the Blues.
Cess Fabregas was allowed to leave for Monaco this week and Maurizio Sarri is determined to secure a replacement before the transfer window shuts.
Kostas Manolas (Roma to Man Utd)
United have been heavily linked with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly over the past few weeks but it is another Serie A star that is reportedly heading to Old Trafford.
Marca claim that Manolas is on the verge of joining Manchester United after failing to agree a new contract at Roma.
The Greek defender has a release clause of just £30.5m and has been targeted by a host top clubs around Europe.
However, Old Trafford is said to be his preferred destination this month.
Oumar Niasse (Everton to Crystal Palace)
Niasse has fallen out of favour at Everton and has been tipped with a move away during the January window.
The forward has not started a single Premier League game under Marco Silva this season and the Toffees boss is reportedly happy to sanction his departure.
The Sun reported last week that Crystal Palace lodged a £6.5m bid for the 28-year-old, which Everton are said to be mulling over.
The Standard adds that the Eagles are also prepared to take Niasse on loan for the rest of the season if a transfer fee can’t be agreed.
