SPFL table PREDICTED: Super computer predicts who will win title – Rangers or Celtic? | Football | Sport
Teams take a break from league action today as the Scottish Cup returns but things remain tight at the top.
Celtic currently lead the way with 57 points.
Rangers are following closely behind with 51 points in second.
Aberdeen and Kilmarnock are both tied on 46 points.
However, this could change come the end of the season and the stats geeks over at Football Web Pages have given us a glimpse of what the final standings could look like.
Their predicted results, based on the probability of each score happening, has generated a final table – but where will your team finish?
The formula has been devised across the course of a 44 game season, but it still allows the system to generate the final standings after 38 matches.
12th – St Mirren
The table predicts that St Mirren will come bottom of the pile.
11th – Dundee
Dundee will have to battle it out in the relegation play off after coming 11th.
10th – Hamilton Academical
9th – Motherwell
8th – St Johnstone
7th – Livingston
6th – Hibernian
5th – Hearts
4th – Kilmarnock
It’s been a fantastic year so far for Steve Clarke but the computer predicts his side will miss out on Europe.
3rd – Aberdeen
The Dons will play in the Europa League again where they were knocked out by Burnley earlier this year.
Some good home form sees them edge their nearest rivals the Killies.
2nd – Rangers
It’s SPFL title heartbreak for Steven Gerrard and the ‘Gers.
Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe cannot fire them to a first league title since 2011.
It’s perhaps just Celtic’s remarkable consistency in the second half of the season that prevents them from being crowned champions.
1st – Celtic
It’s an eight consecutive titles for the Bhoys and a fourth in a row for Brendan Rodgers.
Celtic maintain their 100 per cent record at home, not dropping a single point.
The super computer however doesn’t predict whether Rodgers will be staying put beyond the season…
