Liverpool hero Souness reveals ONLY way Reds will beat Man City | Football | Sport
The red half of Merseyside would have been left disappointed this afternoon, when City overcame yet another hurdle in their bid to retain the title by beating Tottenham 1-0.
With the games running out now for Pep Guardiola’s side to drop points, Liverpool will be desperate for Manchester United to work some magic against their noisy neighbours on Wednesday.
Former Liverpool captain Graeme Souness has offered fellow Kopites faith that they can still win their first title in 29 years this season – but they will have to do it the hard way.
“[City have] had to be at it because of Liverpool,” he said after the reigning champions beat Tottenham 1-0.
“Liverpool’s form has been sensational as well.
“And they know they’ve got to win every game now starting tomorrow.
“They know they have difficult games, but they will stay right behind them.
“I think they will have to win every single game to win this league.
“They are a special team and it’s not beyond them, but Man City weren’t at their best today but they still won.”
Liverpool can regain top spot tomorrow against relegation strugglers Cardiff, who need the points for their own ambitions of survival.
Jurgen Klopp has insisted his troops are ready for the run-in, with four Premier League games left to play and two Champions League semi-finals with Barcelona.
“We are not tired. It’s a decisive period of the season. That’s good that you are involved in two more competitions,” the German said on Friday.
“We are still in the Champions League and title race. We are not tired.
“Training is low intensity because we don’t have to do a lot because the boys know it.
“We analyse, work and go for it. We create the basis but there is a moment you have to use it and we are in that.”
