Valencia is out of contract at the Red Devils in the summer and there has been plenty of speculation over his future.

That’s despite the 33-year-old having spent ten seasons at the club and being of the most consistent performers.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had given little away on Valencia’s future initially, though did say the Ecuadorian will not be handed a contract extension in recent weeks.

And Valencia has appeared to confirm that decision with his Instagram post.

The former Wigan man posted a picture of the Sir Alex Ferguson stand at Old Trafford, accompanied with a ‘Thank you’ caption.

Valencia had been consistent at right-back, though Ashley Young has taken that position a number of times this season.

And after some poor performances from Young, some United fans seem disappointed to see Valencia go.

One responded to his post: “I would still pick you over Young for the RB position. So gutted that you’re the one leaving and he’s not”

Another added: “sad times man… my best player is leaving the club just want to say thank you antonio for being a true servant to the reds and all the best . we love you bro”

A third wrote: “Should be Young leaving not you”

And one other posted: “Legend! Absolute joke that we’ve offered Jones young and smalling fresh terms and no you! Your the best right back we have! Treated so poorly this season after being so consistent over the last 10 years! Sorry to see you go tbh!“

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set for a busy summer and knows the type of player he wants.

He said: ““We’ve got scouts scouring the planet for good footballers and we’ll sign players we think is the right fit – personality wise, price wise, quality wise and can you have longevity at this club and I’m confident we’ll get the players.

“I’ve been speaking to the club, we know that we have to be realistic and have a job to be done there’s no quick fix.

“It’s not like buy seven players and we’re in the right shape, we have to take step by step and there’ll be signings made but also has to be thoughts about players.

“Sit down, have a pre-season, I can’t wait for it to come.

“There’ll be some additions, the players have got to come back and know what is expected of them, take ownership of that while on holiday and it will be great to see who’s coming back.”
