Mohamed Salah can equal remarkable Liverpool record vs Cardiff… Luis Suarez has done it | Football | Sport

With 19 goals in the Premier League this season, he is joint with Manchester City star Sergio Aguero at the top of the scoring charts.

Net against Neil Warnock’s side at the Cardiff City stadium and Salah will have scored 20 or more goals in consecutive campaigns.

That would make him just the third Liverpool player to achieve such a feat to join two Reds legends on an illustrious list.

Robbie Fowler scored 20-plus in 1994-95 and 1995-96 while Luis Suarez did the same in 2012-13 and 2013-14 before moving to Barcelona.

It would mark the latest milestone in his incredible career at Anfield since joining from Roma in the summer of 2017.

Salah scored 32 league goals last season to claim the record for most strikes in a 38-game campaign since the start of the Premier League era.

He also became the fastest Liverpool player to sore 50 Prem goals when he found the net against Southampton earlier this month – taking just 69 games to reach that landmark.

Incredibly, Salah has been the subject of criticism from some quarters this term after he went eight games without a goal between February and March.

However, his goals have put Liverpool in with a real chance of winning their first league title since 1990 and helped fire Jurgen Klopp’s team to a Champions League semi-final with Barcelona.

He scored a contender for goal of the season in Liverpool’s recent 2-0 win over Chelsea to keep their dreams of Premier League glory alive and boss Klopp says his player continues to defy the odds.

“It blew me away,” he said after his goal against the Blues.

“I didn’t think anything in that moment but I know I was really happy because I was in line with the ball and maybe I saw first that it would go in. It was a really outstanding finish.”

Klopp also moved to praise Salah for always believing even during his barren spell in front of goal.

“The answer in football is always work rate and the work rate of all three up front was outstanding,” he added?

“Chelsea is a top team. We treat these games like Champions League games, nothing else, and you cannot defend a team like this without offensive wingers.

“Everybody uses it. Each top team takes that risk. How the boys worked today was unbelievable.

“And they got the reward for that. You can get an easy goal from a yard or a shot from 25 yards, a thunderbolt. Outstanding.”
