Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva shows class with Phil Foden gesture after win vs Tottenham Hotspur
Bernardo Silva rejected the Premier League’s man-of-the-match award after Manchester City’s win over Tottenham because he felt Phil Foden was more deserving of it.
Bernardo was voted man of the match by Sky Sports but he was in no mood to accept it as he generously handed the award over to Foden.
“I’d like to hand it over to Phil because I honestly feel he deserves it,” Bernardo said. “He’s so young and he’s a fantastic player. This one’s for you, you scored the winner.”
The Portuguese playmaker praised City’s fans for the support they showed just three days on from the Blues’ heartbreaking Champions League exit.
“That game three days ago against Tottenham, we wanted to give a response especially here with our fans,” Bernardo added.
