What David Seaman has said about Man Utd will make Man City and Liverpool fans fume | Football | Sport
That’s the extraordinary claim made by David Seaman who believes the Spaniard is better than Liverpool star Alisson and Manchester City ace Ederson.
Reports this morning claim De Gea has rejected the final contract offer from Manchester United and will leave the club this summer.
The 28-year-old has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain.
But Seaman thinks Ed Woodward and co. need to do everything in their power to keep De Gea at Old Trafford.
“They’ve definitely got to keep him,” he told talkSPORT.
“Alright, he’s made a few mistakes, but he’s still the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.
“Ederson is running him close, I’d say he has been the best this season, and Alisson has been really good as well.
“But over the years De Gea has been brilliant, so you don’t want players of that quality leaving your club.”
If David De Gea does leave for PSG he could reunite with Ander Herrera.
The United midfielder is also expected to leave for the French champions on a free transfer imminently.
De Gea reportedly wants his weekly wage to increase to £350,000 in order to renew terms at Old Trafford.
But the Red Devils have yet to meet them demands.
If United lose De Gea they will need to splash the cash on a top class replacement.
Sergio Romero and Dean Henderson would not be deemed to be suitable to be the club’s number one next season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already planning a major overhaul of his squad but will hope De Gea will commit to the Red Devils.
However, with United finishing sixth and therefore not playing Champions League football the Spaniard may force an exit.
De Gea made 47 appearances in all competitions for United this season.
But the United goalkeeper made uncharacteristic errors throughout the campaign which cost his side.
