Philippe Coutinho keen on Chelsea move: Barcelona star ready to snub Man Utd and PSG | Football | Sport

The Brazil international has struggled to impress at the Nou Camp following his £105m move from Liverpool in January 2018.

Coutinho has been linked with a return to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Chelsea tipped to land the playmaker.

PSG are also in the running to land the 27-year-old this summer.

However, according to transfer expert Duncan Castles, Coutinho favours a move to Chelsea over PSG.

Castles also claims United are in for Coutinho, however, the Red Devils are more hopeful of landing his Barcelona team-mate Ivan Rakitic.

He said on the Transfer Window podcast: “Philippe Coutinho, also interest from Manchester United. Not as intense as the pursuit of Rakitic.

“Definite interest from Paris St-Germain, who he’s been offered to.

“Coutinho’s obviously represented by a couple of agents who have very strong links to Chelsea, have done a huge number of deals to that club.

“The briefing I had last week was that Coutinho’s preference would be to go to Chelsea rather than Paris St-Germain.

“But of course, dependent on the transfer-window ban being lifted, which it looks almost certain not to happen.

“The idea that Abramovich spends that amount of money on one player, in terms of salary and transfer fee, at a time when he’s trying to sell the club, strikes me as a little strange.

“So I expect that briefing comes more from the desire of the agents to bring Chelsea into the equation than it does of an actual defined and fixed preference on Coutinho’s part.”

A lot has been made of Coutinho’s move to Barcelona, with former Reds ace Neil Mellor claiming Liverpool don’t miss the Brazilian.

“I think Coutinho was a great player for Liverpool and I really did enjoy watching him,” he said.

“He had creative influence to make things happen and of course, I was disappointed when he left.

“Leaving for Barcelona for whatever reason, he hasn’t shown the same quality at Barcelona that he did at Liverpool.

“One of the biggest compliments that you would give the current Liverpool side and Klopp, is that they didn’t really miss Coutinho.

“They went from competing for the top four to competing for a title without Coutinho and won the Champions League.

“He was a great player for Liverpool and loved watching him, but he hasn’t been missed.”
