Everton transfer news: How XI may look next season – Zaha signs, Zouma replacement | Football | Sport
Marco Silva has been quietly going about his transfer business this summer as Everton look to build on a strong finish to their 2018/19 Premier League campaign.
The Toffees secured clean sheets against Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United in the run-in as they surged up the table to record an eighth-place finish.
And Everton are now aiming to close the gap to the traditional top six with some savvy summer recruitment which has included signing Andre Gomes on a £22million from Barcelona.
The Portuguese ace impressed on a loan deal last season and snubbed Tottenham to complete a move to Goodison Park, where he is likely to retain his spot in the starting XI.
Silva has also signed Jonas Lossl on a free to provide competition for Jordan Pickford while Fabian Delph has been snapped up after being deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester City.
Crystal Palace want £80million for the Ivory Coast forward, who could be within Everton’s price range if they bring in an expected £22.5m when they sell Ademola Lookman to RB Leipzig.
Zaha still has four years left to run on his contract and it remains to be seen if he would be willing to move north, meaning Bernard and Theo Walcott still have a chance of starting every week.
David Neres and Mario Mandzukic are also attracting attention from Everton with the Croatian likely to find his options limited at Juventus under new manager Maurizio Sarri.
Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson are certainties to start under Silva this season while Idrissa Gueye is indispensable to the Everton starting XI.
Lucas Digne is already a fan favourite at Goodison Park while Seamus Coleman will captain the side again this season.
Finally, Michael Keane will be partnered by Yerry Mina in central defence after Chelsea manager Frank Lampard revealed Kurt Zouma is in his plans this season.
Everton predicted line-up in 2019/20
(4-2-3-1): Pickford; Coleman, Keane, Mina, Digne; Gueye, Gomes; Zaha, Sigurdsson, Richarlison; Mandzukic
