Premier League prediction made by Danny Murphy – Man Utd and Liverpool fans will love this | Football | Sport
The Reds have started the season well, winning all three of their top flight matches so far.
They are two points clear of last year’s champions Manchester City in the early stages of the campaign.
And Murphy believes the fact Pep Guardiola will be focused on success in Europe could hand Liverpool a title advantage.
He said: “Only one club had done it three times on the trot and I think Man City will be so Champions League focused.
“So I’m going Liverpool, City and then Tottenham, I think they’ll take third.”
He believes the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba will make the difference for the Red Devils.
He added: “I actually think fourth will go to Manchester United.
“I think Chelsea will do all right and Frank Lampard is a great appointment.
“But United have gone big in the market and the quality they have in the final third – I mean there is doom and gloom around them, but I think they’ll surprise a few.”
United will look to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they take on Southampton in the Premier League (12.30pm).
They lost on Saturday to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in a shock result.
Chelsea face Sheffield United (3pm) while Arsenal have a north London derby with Tottenham on Sunday (4.30pm).
Liverpool face Burnley on Saturday (5.30pm) while Manchester City host Brighton (3pm).
Klopp will be hoping for another win to keep the advantage over their title rivals.
United boss Solskjaer will be desperate for three points before the international break.
