Premier League table based on Instagram followers – Pogba has more than Tottenham squad | Football | Sport
United have had an inconsistent start to the Premier League season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, smashing four goals past Chelsea but drawing with Wolves and losing to Crystal Palace.
The latest result leaves the Red Devils five points off league leaders Liverpool after just three matches, but things are looking brighter for the Old Trafford club in the social media stakes.
And Manchester United are completely dominant with a total reach of 111,177,900 followers, eclipsing local rivals Liverpool by over 20m.
Paul Pogba has £37m himself, which is more than the entire Tottenham squad put together.
Pogba’s haul is backed up by 10.7m from David de Gea, 9.9m from Alexis Sanchez and 7.1m from Marcus Rashford.
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is the second most followed top flight player, with the Egyptian boasting an audience of 31.3m on Instagram.
Mesut Ozil also has a sizeable following at 20.8m while Brazilian’s David Luiz, Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino all have over £10m.
The alternative Premier League table has a familiar ring to it with the traditional big six occupying the top spots while two of this season’s promoted teams are in the relegation zone.
However, Aston Villa buck the trend with summer signing Trezeguet having £3.8m fans following his social media movements.
The Instagram Dream Team XI has a South American flavour, with the traditional 4-4-2 containing five players from the continent.
Colombian defender Yerry Mina is a surprise inclusion with 3.4m followers after his exploits for Everton while Chelsea’s Brazilian winger Willian has 9m – showing how popular Instagram is across the Atlantic.
