England team news: Predicted line up vs Kosovo as Gareth Southgate plans three changes | Football | Sport
Gareth Southgate is expected to start Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Chilwell and Jadon Sancho against Kosovo this evening.
England head into their fourth game of Euro 2020 qualifying fresh off the back of a convincing 4–0 win over Bulgaria at Wembley on Saturday.
The Three Lions sit top of Group A and are at the national stadium again as second-place Kosovo arrive in town.
Southgate has a plethora of full-back options in the current squad and will likely explore them tonight, with Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold coming in for Kieran Trippier, who was a surprise starter on the weekend.
Manchester City regular Kyle Walker was left out of the 25-man roster so Southgate could assess his competitors in the role, with Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka also vying for a spot before he had to withdraw through injury.
On the other side of defence, Danny Rose will probably make way for his understudy, Leicester’s Ben Chilwell.
The 22-year-old made his England bow last season and is progressing well under club manager Brendan Rodgers.
Elsewhere, teenage sensation Jadon Sancho is primed to come back into the fore with Marcus Rashford making way.
The Borussia Dortmund forward has scored two goals and registered three assists in three Bundesliga appearances this season.
He has predominantly played on the right wing for England and is expected to do so again with Raheem Sterling sacrificing his favoured flank for the 19-year-old.
Southgate is otherwise expected to stick with the same players as Saturday with Jordan Pickford retaining his No 1 spot and Michael Keane and Harry Maguire buttressing the side.
The midfield trio of Declan Rice, Jordan Henderson and Ross Barkley should patrol the hallowed turf once more while hat-trick hero Harry Kane will be accompanied by Sterling on the frontline.
England predicted line-up vs Kosovo
Pickford; Alexander-Arnold, Keane, Maguire, Chilwell; Henderson, Rice, Barkley; Sterling, Kane, Sancho.
