Chelsea news: Juventus boss Sarri eyeing Emerson raid… but Lampard has other ideas | Football | Sport

The Juventus manager, who took over in the summer after leaving Stamford Bridge, wants to be re-united with the 25-year-old, who he made a regular in the Chelsea side towards the end of last season.

Sarri at the moment has only the Brazilian Alex Sandro to rely on on the left of his defence, and his fitness is fragile.

Emerson took over from Marcos Alonso as first choice left back at Chelsea last year under Sarri, after he had been signed by Antonio Conte from Roma for £17million in January 2018.

Emerson’s good form helped Chelsea to a third place finish in the Premier League and to victory in the Europa League last term.

The Brazilian born Italian international also started as first choice left back under new manager Frank Lampard this season, until a hamstring injury ruled him out for the last month.

Chelsea though have offered the former Roma player a new five year deal, and Lampard does not want to lose a defender he regards as an important part of his plans, with a transfer ban currently preventing any chance of signing a replacement.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s France striker Olivier Giroud, currently being kept out of the side by nine goal Tammy Abraham, is being chased by MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps, and has already turned down one approach.

Giroud, 33, has not ruled out a move to the MLS in the future.

Another Chelsea star who has struggled to get game time under Lampard is Christian Pulisic.

Chelsea’s £58m signing has failed to impress under Lampard this time out.

However, the USA winger is refusing to let his troubles at club level have an impact on his international form.

“I feel the best I ever have,” Pulisic said. “I feel very confident in my game.

“I’m not going to let any of that affect me.

“I feel very strong, and I’m really looking forward to this game on Friday.”
