Manchester United ‘set to launch January approach for AC Milan striker’ and more transfer rumours
AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek is the latest forward to be linked with a January switch to Manchester United.
After a dreadful start to the season United have slumped to 12th in the Premier League table and it’s clear that a lack of goals is becoming a big problem.
They have scored just nine goals in eight league games, with four of them coming against Chelsea, and haven’t scored more than one goal in a game in any competition since the opening weekend victory.
As a result, United are understandably being touted to make a move for a striker once the transfer window reopens in the new year and have already been linked with a number of names.
Mario Mandzukic, Erling Braut Haaland and Moussa Dembele are among those to have been mooted and Milan’s Piatek is the latest.
The prolific Pole had an outstanding start to life in Italy last season as he scored 19 goals in 21 games for Genoa before AC Milan paid more than seven times what Genoa had paid to bring him to the San Siro six months later.
Piatek’s form has slowed slightly since making the move to Milan, with 13 goals in 28 games, but that can be explained by the awful rut the entire club is in.
It’s reported United will make a bid of £34.89million, though Milan want close to £43.6million, but Barcelona are also showing interest.
Speaking of Barcelona, Marcus Rashford is reportedly on their four-man transfer wishlist in their bid to replace Luiz Suarez.
Mundo Deportivo claim that the Catalans have identified Rashford, England captain Harry Kane, along with Roberto Firmino and ‘top target’ Kylian Mbappe, as their four main targets.
Rashford was briefly linked with Barca at the end of last season, but signed a new and improved United contract during the summer.
