The full list of fines Frank Lampard has imposed at Chelsea as he gets tough on players | Football | Sport
The list of fines Chelsea players receive if they fall afoul of the club’s rules have been leaked online.
Manager Frank Lampard has well and truly laid down the law since being appointed Maurizio Sarri’s successor in the summer.
And the sanctions he issues out to his first-team stars who fail to adhere to the club’s policies are a testament to his disciplinary ways.
On Tuesday, a screenshot of the full list of fines Blues stars can receive started doing the rounds on social media.
The fines ranged from £500 to £20,000, with the latter punishment being handed out for missing the start of training.
And for every 15 minutes a player is late for training, they’re fined a further £2500.
Failure to report illness or injury to the club before their day off or a minimum of an hour-and-a-half before training also costs Blues stars a pretty penny, with the club fining them a whopping £10,000.
Also included in the list of fines is a £1000 sanction for a player’s phone ringing during a team meeting or a team meal.
Failure to turn up on time for team meetings results in Chelsea aces being fined £500 for every minute they’re tardy.
Players must pay their accrued fines within 14 days or risk having them doubled, meaning they could end up forking out £40,000 for missing the start of training.
While all the fines sound hefty, it’s worth remembering the top earners at Stamford Bridge are on upwards £150,000 a week.
Lampard’s disciplinarian ways have paid dividends, with the Blues winning their last six league matches on the bounce.
After a rough start to the season, the west Londoners currently occupy third place in the Premier League table and are one point ahead of defending champions Manchester City.
Coincidentally, Chelsea’s first match back from the international break – which takes place a week on Saturday – will see them travel to the Etihad to take on City.
